Open APIs and standards are the foundation of our successful partner integration. It begins with providing open and documented APIs that cover access to the entire NetApp core infrastructure. NetApp provides a Manage ONTAP SDK which has been used by numerous partners and customers to tightly integrate their own tools and applications with NetApp storage systems. The easy-to-use SDK, sample code and developer forum streamline partner integration for systems management, backup and recovery, cloning, archiving, and the like.
NetApp is an active leader and participant in various standards efforts and organizations, too. These include SNIA, and its Storage Management Interface-Specification (SMI-S), providing customers the assurance that their NetApp storage investment will support the broadest array of industry technologies. NetApp also embraces the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and NDMP activities, enabling NetApp partners and customers to create their own integrated solutions. These efforts also extend to participation in the open-source Aperi project and in the Open Grid Forum effort.
